Ultrasound Technician-Full Time

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the coordination and performance of ultrasound procedures as ordered by the radiologist/physician

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Provide customer service in a friendly and professional manner and appearance to customers, physicians, patients, families, staff, visitors, workers and other departments
• Obtain and maintain accurate histories and diagnosis
• Follow and comply with all network, hospital and department policies, protocols and regulatory agency requirements
• Provide quality diagnostic images of requested anatomy within specified timeframes through the use of informatics tools
• Monitor key financial performance standards within the department to meet goals
• Actively pursue opportunities to enhance professional growth through learning and using skill sets that are key to serving our customers
• Actively participate in process improvements and initiatives
• Provide meaningful assistance to physicians
• Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information
• Communicate and work effectively with other team members toward common goals
• Remain up-to-date on all training programs
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

• May be subjected to infectious diseases, waste, conditions, etc., including the potential exposure to the AIDS, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B Viruses
• Position does have contact with patients, so may be subject to hostile and emotionally upset personnel

Academic, Certifications, & Trade Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of approved AMA school for ultrasound education
• ARDMS Registered or Registry Eligible. If Registry Eligible only, must receive registration within one year of hire date
• Must have current CRP certificate
• ARRT preferred
• Radiology Technician R.T. (R) preferred
• Must maintain valid Missouri Driver’s License

Work Experience, Skills, and Strengths

• Minimum one year experience as Echo Technologist preferred
• Minimum one year Ultrasound experience preferred
• Able to make independent decisions when necessary
• Able to follow oral and written instructions
• Able to work without supervision
• Able adapt to change and open to new ideas
• Read, write and speak the English language
• Able to act with patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle patients based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning or in whatever condition/circumstance
• Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices

Physical Requirements

• Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met

The Ideal Candidate

• The ideal candidate has friendly and compassionate personality with ultrasound experience, and is able to provide ultrasound services as needed for a variety of patients who may have different mental capabilities, sometimes requiring creativity, in a professional manner and/or displays the aptitude to perform in this manner.
