BOONE MONUMENT VILLAGE has an immediate opening for an experienced Event & Sales Manager

Who we are:

Located in Marthasville Missouri, Boone Monument Village (BMV) is a unique and exclusive Event and Historic Lodging Destination venue. Our newly established venue is a serene, peaceful, historic 54-acre Village surrounding Daniel Boone’s monument and burial site, just 27 miles from Chesterfield Valley.

Visitors to our mid-1800’s Village are awed by the pastoral setting which includes a new elegant barn with walls of windows leading to a grand patio, a restored and antique-appointed Manor home, log and stone cabins, a little red schoolhouse, and glamping style tipis and wagons, all accurately appointed for our discerning overnight guests. Nestled around a 4-acre lake, BMV is a much sought-after destination venue offering a rustic, yet elegant setting for our fully tailored and exclusive Events, delivered impeccably with our attentive 5-star service. Though our venue is newly open to the public, BMV proudly boasts numerous 5-star reviews and ratings, Wedding Wire’s 2020 Couple’s Choice Award, The Knot’s 2020 Best of Weddings Award, and a featured article spread in Ladue News (April 2020). We are growing and looking for a professional and influential team member to grow with us!

Job Outline: BMV seeks an energetic Event & Sales Manager responsible for implementing and overseeing Event venue sales (i.e., weddings, receptions, family reunions and business meetings/retreats) and related event services, which may include overnight lodging. Manager’s responsibilities will also include facilities management, caterer/vendor/staff management, and marketing and social media oversight.

Primary Event Management Responsibilities:

  • Respond to all incoming leads/queries/requests in a professional, friendly, and timely manner.
  • Provide tours for prospective clients to showcase our Venue.
  • Learn client’s specific Event needs, present pertinent information, and pricing, including food and beverage catering, decorations/props and optional services.
  • Respond to all sales queries, following up daily, meet with clients to plan their Event, prepare/review/finalize formal agreements, enforce property policies and requirements.
  • Manage overnight lodging rented in conjunction with an Event.
  • Ensure successful Event management by monitoring Events and maintaining close contact with clients/staff/vendors.
  • Communicate, schedule, and coordinate all Event-specific details including special requests, day-of coordinator(s), caterers/vendors, overnight accommodations, facility preparation, set-up and dismantle.
  • Coordinate with the ground/building maintenance and cleaning staff to keep the Village looking its best, always clean, manicured, and ready for clients/guests.
  • Effectively communicate with clients/guests/staff to ensure prompt and courteous service.
  • Promptly and diplomatically handle client/guest/staff complaints – always with a polite and professional demeanor.
  • Vet new vendors/suppliers/contract workers per BMV’s strict quality expectations, negotiating favorable rates and offerings.
  • Other projects and responsibilities as may be required at the company’s discretion.

Primary Sales Management Responsibilities:

  • Continually evaluate Event performance and metrics to convert to actionable improvements.
  • Oversee bar services including negotiating supplier contracts, inventory, ordering, stock control/rotation, return of sub-standard items, budgeting, and staffing.
  • Assist in prospecting and generating new business which includes new revenue sources, attracting & reaching new clientele, and growing existing relationships through loyalty and service add-ons.
  • Advertise, Promote and Market BMV, our rental venues and historic lodging accommodations, in order to achieve high occupancy goals.
  • Regularly update our social media accounts, including Facebook and Instagram, with compelling and timely text, pictures, and videos.
  • Solicit and obtain reviews from clients/guests on multiple social media platforms to maintain our perfect 5-star ratings/reviews.
  • Hire, schedule, and train contract staff and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and monitoring.
  • Stay on top of contracted Event fees and handle payments, cash and credit cards in a secure and accurate manner.
  • Keep digital master calendar of all daily, weekly, annual Events and Lodging at BMV.
  • Work with Village Owners to review/finalize web page design changes and verbiage as well as printed marketing materials (produced by others).
  • Manage expectations with clients/guests/staff/vendors.
  • Go the extra mile and follow through to ensure client/guest satisfaction.
  • Other projects and responsibilities as may be required at the company’s discretion.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional full-time experience in Event & Sales Management and/or Venue Operations.
  • B.S. in Hospitality Management (or equivalent) from an accredited four-year university
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience in Event & Lodging Management platforms such as ResNexus, Airbnb, Trip Advisor, and Glamping.com reservation software is a plus.
  • Passionate about working in an authentic “Living History” setting with an appreciation for diverse cultures, history, antiques, etc.
  • Demonstrates outstanding communication and people skills, possessing superior organization and attention to detail.
  • Willing to do whatever may be required to offer BMV’s clients/guests a 5-star experience.
  • Forward thinker and intuitive listener possessing outstanding verbal and written skills.
  • Works independently, exercising judgement and initiative, while remaining flexible to adjust to situations as they occur.
  • Candidate must be able to organize and prioritize a large workload, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Works effectively under pressure and multitasks with ease.
  • Systematic planner who attends to every detail with focus and accuracy (VIP!)
